Oh boy. I was making my signature Pretzel Pigs in a Banket for the Super Bowl and had a good amount of pizza dough left that I couldn't let it to go to waste. It occured to me that I recently saved a recipe by Bon Appetit that required pizza dough and felt that this was the perfect time to try it out! Are you ready?
Ingredients:
1 package fresh or frozen pizza dough, room temp (I like Trader Joes)
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 tbs minced garlic
1 1/2 tbs dried oregano
Flour for rolling
Sea salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly flour a working surface. Cut approx. 24 strips of pizza dough. Roll out a piece of dough to about 2.5-3 inches long and tie it in a knot, then tie it in another knot. Place knots on baking sheet and bake for 22-25 minutes (or less if you want them very dough-y) until golden. Meanwhile, melt butter in a small bowl, then add garlic and oregano. Place warm knots in a serving dish and drizzle butter mixture over knots. Sprinkle with sea salt to taste.
