Prosciutto Cups with Pear

These are a fun and easy little appetizer that I frequently make. The lemon adds tartness, the prosciutto saltiness, and the pear sweetness, so you can say that this appetizer suits many tastes!

It's a family favorite, and they're usually the first appetizer gone. They look intricate, but they're so easy to make that you're sure to impress your friends (and they're probably ask you for the recipe)!

I recommend getting the premium prosciutto from the deli counter. The store/generic brand tends to be very salty. You can ask them for the exact amount of slices you need, plus a few more just in case. Buy the pear a few days in advance since it needs some time to ripen.

You will need a mini cupcake pan for this recipe.

Ingredients:

12 slices of prosciutto

1 Bartlett pear, ripe

1 lemon

Balsamic vinegar (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375.

Cut prosciutto slices in half. Line mini cupcake pan with 1/2 slice of prosciutto, overlapping cuts to form a cup. Bake in oven for 12 minutes or until prosciutto is golden. Meanwhile, finely dice the pear and place in a small bowl. Squeeze lemon juice over pear (amount depends on your taste, I like a lot) and stir until all of the pear is coated. Once prosciutto is cooked, take out of the oven and transfer to a paper towel to drain. Once cooled, spoon in desired amount of pear in the cup and transfer to a serving dish. Optional (I usually don't add this but I've tried it and it's good): lightly drizzle balsamic vinegar over cups.
